So, I took Mom to the airport this morning at 5:30, came home and was at Church for a 7:00 a.m. presidency meeting, followed by High Council, followed by Melchizedek Priesthood Committee, followed by Music Committee, followed by a missionary release, followed by Sacrament Meeting (a missionary report), followed by reorganizing an Elders Quorum Presidency, followed by a nap, followed by a series of interviews, followed by dinner, followed by visits to the elderly. It is now a little after 9:00 p.m. on this day of rest.
All in all it was a good day. We almost made it through a High Council meeting without the thorny issue of doggie bags for the Glen coming up again. Almost. The Music Committee meeting is the first official event of stake conference (just two months away). We decided on a few selections from the Messiah for the prelude, but ending the prelude with "Were You There" (choir and strings); Robertson's "O Come All Ye Faithful" after the business; and closing with "Beautiful Savior." The new Elders Quorum president almost didn't make it to priesthood meeting to be sustained (he was downtown at a devotional for temple workers). The nap was short. Dinner was BBQ fro the crockpot (thoughtfully initiated by Mother in the pre-dawn hours), enjoyed with Spencer and Reta.
The door to 2H was locked when we arrived, a most unusual circumstance. Even more odd, they were home and responded to our ringing the doorbell. Grammie was still lying on her back on a heating pad. She does have an appointment with a back specialist (a real M.D.) this week. Since the President had reported to us earlier that the Hansens were not in Church, we were concerned, but Daddy Owen was at the temple devotional and Grammie was on her heating pad...
Sam needed to print something for school and the Close's printer was still not working, so I invited them to come over. However, Spencer went by their house before taking Reta home and had things working momentarily.
Now it's time to get some rest. Good night!

Ken often says after a day like that, "So have you had enough rest for one Sabbath?" It's not really the "rest" most people think of. Too bad Grammie is still on her back. That makes me worried because she never slows down. (Iguess we have to remember that she IS 82. I want to try to get her and Daddy Owen out here for Annie's blessing. We've got some skymiles...I hope Grammie can make the trip.
Day of Rest? Ha! You, in particular, haven't had a Day of Rest for as long as I can remember.
